Welcome to the home of American Horse Story, my YouTube segment on repairing a 1997 Ford Mustang and listing it for sale. While I do not expect a profit on this car, I hoping for valuable lessons in car purchasing for appreciation/flipping that I can share with my audience.

The car only cost me $600, or $900 including the tow back to my house. I expect to pay more for registration, smog, tires, and brakes. Potentially a new fan, if the motor is burnt out.

I have spent probably $1000 so far to get the car to where it is running now. I’m right around my break even number and I’d really like to be able to drive it around myself for a short while before selling.

Setbacks:

  • Blown fuses

  • Convertible top side cables broken

  • Dry rotted tires

  • Missing front grille and pony

  • Missing battery holder

  • Coolant temp not connected to computer

  • Electric fan not working

  • Soft brakes

  • Missing radio

  • Busted thermostat housing (Self-inflicted)

  • Blown manifold gaskets
